Ezekiel 37 and 47 • Two sticks. Two witnesses. One river.

One in Thine Hand Lab

Join Ezekiel’s two sticks, see how the Bible and the Book of Mormon witness of Jesus Christ together, follow the river from the temple, and shape a private journal page.

Ezekiel was shown what the Lord would do to gather and heal His people. Begin with the two sticks in Ezekiel 37:15–17.

Join the sticks

What are the two sticks, and what do they become?

For Judahthe BibleFor Josephthe Book of Mormon
The two sticks are apart.

Read Ezekiel 37:15–17, a doctrinal mastery passage. A “stick” here is a wooden writing tablet or a scroll: a record.

“Take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah”. Which record is this?

“Take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim”. Which record is this?

“Join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become …”

Doctrinal mastery key phrase for Ezekiel 37:15–17: The Bible and the Book of Mormon “shall become one in thine hand.”

Two witnesses

Which book says this about Jesus Christ?

These are the five topics in Lesson 140. Choose one and read both passages in your scriptures first. Then decide which book each phrase comes from.

My topic:

Someone may ask, “Why do you need the Book of Mormon if you believe in the Bible?” The two books do not compete. What could you say, kindly, from the topic you chose?

3

Follow the river

What did Ezekiel see flowing from the temple?

ankleskneesloinsswim
The channel is dry.

Read Ezekiel 47:1–5 and Ezekiel 47:8–9, 12. A cubit is about half a metre.

Where did the waters come from? (Ezekiel 47:1)

Tap the depths in the order the river grew (Ezekiel 47:3–5).

What happens wherever the river comes? (Ezekiel 47:9)

The vision can symbolise the blessings the Lord gives to all who do temple and family history work. The blessings come from the Lord, through His temple.

Take it to the journal

Which blessing would you write in the water?

Elder Dale G. Renlund listed “healing” blessings promised to those who take part in family history and temple work (April 2018). Six of them are below in his words. Choose one, and one way to write about it.

A blessing that stands out to me:

I will write about:

PRIVATE JOURNAL: Keep the writing outside this app. Nothing you choose is stored or sent; it disappears when the page is refreshed.
